Cars That Start With X: Still In Production

Two automobile manufacturers are producing vehicles whose names start with the letter X.

Just like previously mentioned names that start with Q and U, few automobile manufacturers utilize X.

Both manufacturers originate from China and are as follows:

Xinkai

Xinkai or Xinkai Auto Manufacture Corporation was founded in 1984, and most of its models are just rebadged vehicles like the Xinkai HXK6630, a rebadged Toyota Camry.

It does produce some models, but they rely primarily on partnerships with other manufacturers.

Xpeng

Xpeng, or Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co Ltd, was founded in 2014 and is a Chinese electric car manufacturer.

The batteries are developed and built by the largest battery developer in China, CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology), and utilize LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries.

While I could not find any cool-sounding cars starting with X, I did, however, find a full-depth review of the Xpeng P7 by Bjørn Nyland on youtube:

Cars That Start With X: That Defunct

Since the invention of the self-propelled vehicle, there have been three automobile manufacturers that are no longer in business, and here they are in alphabetical order from their country of origin:

China

  • Xiali

Xiali was produced from 1997 to 2015 and then merged into Tianjin FAW.

Its models have rebadged Daihatsu and Toyotas that they self-facelifted over the years and started producing engines for those chassis.

One of their longest-running models was the Xiali TJ7101/TJ7131, produced from 1986 to 2012, an astonishing 26 years.

United Kingdom

  • Xtra

Xtra was a cycle car manufacturer in the United Kingdom from 1922 to 1924.

They made their first single-seater (monocar) from a plywood body and ash frame and had a claimed top speed of 30 mph or 48 kph.

They later produced a two-seater with an 8HP V-Twin JAP engine in November 1922.

United States

  • Xander

Xander Automobile Company was started in 1901 and ran up until 1902 by John G. Xander and built steam and gasoline-powered cars on custom order.

At first, Xander was known to build bicycles for ten years before manufacturing vehicles.

Hopefully, you are surprised how many car manufacturers there are that names begin with X and the massive amount in the past.

It would have been interesting if most of these older manufacturers were still in production today.

FAQs

What Car Has An X Logo?

There is only one automobile manufacturer with a logo consisting only of an X, and it is Xpeng Motors, a Chinese electric car manufacturer.

What Does X Stand For In Cars?

X emphasizes that the car is more offroad oriented, the same as the words cross when used on vehicles.
A good example is the latest Toyota Corolla or Yaris Cross models.
Some cars break away from this norm, like the KTM X-Bow, a track-oriented vehicle.
When the X is between numbers like 2X4 or 4X4, it indicates if the vehicle is powered only by two of the four (2X4) wheels or all four (4X4).
